  1. Thank you for downloading the A-LOCK demo program.

  3. A-LOCK is a very compact program that allows you to encrypt an email message from within an email program. The highest level of protection is provided through the use of the proven Blowfish algorithm - one of the strongest encryption systems available.

  5. KEY-EXCHANGE:
  6. Be sure to register with Key-Exchange (select Key-Exchange from the pop-up menu) so you can exchange secure passwords with any other A-Lock user in the world.  No need for you to try to dream up passwords that are both hard to guess but easy to remember.  Key-Exchange does it all for you.  And its a FREE service.

  8. WHY ENCRYPTION?
  9. Email is fast, cheap and convenient.  It can also expose your private messages to snoopers anywhere in the world.  It's like sending important information in an unsealed envelope.

  11. A-LOCK ensures that your private correspondence stays private by encrypting (scrambling)it. Only the person with the right password can decrypt it.

  13. Many people share their computer with others.  A-LOCK assures that private Email stays private on shared computers.  At times there is little privacy in a typical office environment. A-LOCK will  protect your incoming email from others eyes.  You control when you want to decrypt the message.

  15. FEATURES:
  16. Works within your email program.  Just click the A-LOCK icon to activate.

  18. ENCRYPTING A MESSAGE
  19. There are 3 choices to encrypt a message.  
  20. (1) You can use a default password (one you make up then specify as the default in the Password Book ..see Help for more details). Select "Encrypt with Default Password" for this option.  
  21. (2) Select "Encrypt/Decrypt" then click "Password Book" and select a name from the list.
  22. (3) Select "Encrypt/Decrypt" then enter a password in the space provided.

  24. DECRYPTING A MESSAGE
  25. Eudora:  
  26. Just click the A-Lock icon and select "Encrypt/Decrypt".  If the password of the sender is in the Password Book the message will be decrypted automatically and displayed in Private Window.  If it is not in the Password Book you will be prompted to supply a password.

  28. Microsoft Outlook, Messaging, Outlook Express, Netscape Navigator 4.x  
  29. Click the mouse anywhere in the window containing the message (this makes it the 'active' window). Then click the A-Lock icon and select "Encrypt/Decrypt".  If the password of the sender is in the Password Book the message will be decrypted automatically and displayed in Private Window. If it is not in the Password Book you will be prompted to supply a password.

  31. Netscape Navigator 3.x:  
  32. Use your mouse to highlight the entire message.  Then click the A-Lock icon and select "Encrypt/Decrypt".  If the password of the sender is in the Password Book the message will be decrypted automatically and displayed in Private Window. If it is not in the Password Book you will be prompted to supply a password.

  34. Other Email Programs:  
  35. Some perform like Eudora.  If this does not work ty the Microsoft way or the Netscape Navigator way.

  39. ONLINE HELP: 
  40. Be sure to check the online Help file for tips on using A-LOCK with different email programs.  Click the A-LOCK icon and select Help.

  42. SEND A-LOCK TO A FRIEND:
  43. Both the person sending an encrypted message and the person receiving an encrypted message must have A-Lock installed on their computer.  Select this option from the pop-up menu to ensure that they can exchange encrypted messages with you.

  45. PURCHASE INFORMATION:
  46. Demo versions are fully functional for up to 10 encryptions and decryptions. When the trial period expires you can restore all features by Registering your demo copy.

You can register online by selecting "Register" in the A-Lock menu and clicking on "Click Here to Go Register A-Lock".  This will take you to a secure web site that can process credit card transactions. When payment is received an email with a Registration Code to unlock all of A-LOCK's features will be sent within 24 hours.
